Double succes for JMV Industries race yachts
10th June 2005 Cherbourg, France
Two of this years major offshore races have been won by yachts constructed at carbon composite specialists JMV Industries.
The 45 metre “Mari Cha IV”, skippered by owner Bob Miller, continues to excel by winning the Rolex TransAtlantic Challenge and breaking yet another Atlantic record en route.
“Mari Cha IV’s” time for the 2,925 mile course between the Ambrose light off New York Harbour and The Lizard was 9 days 15 hours 55 minutes and 23 seconds, taking a massive 2 days 12 hours off the 100 year old race record held by Charlie Barr.
“Mari Cha IV” was aided by optimisations carried out by the talented JMV Industries workforce earlier this year. Notably her new 6 metre long carbon composite daggerboard installation has improved the yacht’s overall performance.
Also this month the Calais Open 60 Round Britain Race was won by the JMV Industries constructed “Sill & Veola”, skippered by Roland Jourdain.
This 2000 mile fully crewed race saw a complete range of weather conditions from gale-force winds to virtual calms.
“We are very proud of the recent performances of these two fabulous yachts” said JMV director Jean Marie Vaur. “Through quality construction our aim is always to provide a fast and reliable platform for success and once again our clients have proved the case. Bravo Bob and Roland!”
